Patiala, September 18
Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia has accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of consuming liquor illegally during a chartered flight from Delhi to Chandigarh. Majithia alleges that Mann’s subsequent fall on the tarmac was a result of his inebriated state.
Majithia, while speaking to reporters after re-inducting Rakesh Prashar into the SAD, demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. He claimed that Mann was under stress due to threats from party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and resorted to drinking to cope.
The SAD leader also criticized the AAP government’s new agriculture policy, calling it a “repackaged” version of previous policies. He asserted that the policy would fail to address the pressing issues of farmer suicides, crop diversification, groundwater depletion, and increasing debt.
Majithia further condemned the arrest of social activist Malwinder Singh Mali and the rising incidents of extortion and targeted killings in the state. He blamed the AAP government for its failure to control the situation, particularly under the leadership of Chief Minister Mann, who holds the home and jails portfolios.
