Chandigarh, June 29

In a significant development for Punjab’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Sunday that construction of a double-lane Railway Overbridge (ROB) in Dhuri will commence shortly, bringing relief to residents of the Malwa region, particularly those in Dhuri.

Project Details

  • Cost: ₹54.76 crore, fully funded by the Punjab Government
  • Timeline: Completion within 18 months from the start of construction
  • Location: Level crossing (phatak) number 62A, Dhuri
  • Purpose: To alleviate chronic traffic congestion in the region

Overcoming Delays

CM Mann highlighted that the project, initiated in 2024, faced delays due to the pending No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Railways, which was awaited since March 2025. Through persistent efforts, the state government secured the necessary clearance, paving the way for construction to begin soon.

Impact and Significance

The state-of-the-art ROB is expected to significantly ease traffic bottlenecks, improving connectivity and convenience for residents and commuters in the Malwa region. Mann emphasized that the project aligns with his government’s vision of fostering inclusive growth and development across Punjab. “This ROB will be a game-changer for Dhuri, ensuring smoother travel and boosting regional connectivity,” he stated.
