New Employment Opportunities Stem Brain Drain from Punjab
Slams Past Regimes for Ignoring Youth and State’s Development
Chandigarh, November 1:
In a landmark achievement, the Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday set a new record by providing 56,856 government jobs to the youth over the past 3.5 years, effectively curbing brain drain through migration.
Speaking at a ceremony to distribute appointment letters, the Chief Minister said these jobs will reshape the future of the youth. He noted that the venue has hosted multiple such events, where young people secured positions in various departments. Mann highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to youth welfare and creating new employment avenues.

He expressed pride that some youth have received two or three jobs during his tenure. From day one, the Chief Minister emphasized ensuring deserving candidates get their due, resulting in over 56,000 government placements. Today, 858 new recruits joined the Punjab Government family, poised to contribute to the state’s social and economic growth.
Mann clarified that these are not favors but rightful opportunities earned through merit, which previous governments neglected. He urged the new recruits to integrate fully into the system and serve the public with dedication.
The Chief Minister encouraged them to use their authority to aid the needy and underprivileged, ensuring maximum public welfare across all sections. He reiterated that all 56,000+ recruitments have been merit-based and transparent, with candidates succeeding in highly competitive exams.
Mann stated that empowering youth through government jobs has been his government’s core agenda. Reflecting on Punjab Day, he questioned the celebration amid the state’s historical divisions.
He accused previous regimes of prioritizing family interests over youth employment. Now, lacking real issues, the opposition resorts to personal attacks, but people see through their tactics. Mann pointed to government school students cracking NEET, JEE, and JEE Advanced as evidence of grassroots transformation.
Those who patronized the drug trade are now jailed, he said, noting they even used official vehicles for distribution. His government has taken bold action against these influential figures, who will face justice. When an Akali leader was arrested, it exposed unholy alliances, with parties falsely crying human rights violations and demanding special treatment.
Mann lamented the deliberate defamation of Punjab for Delhi’s pollution via stubble burning, ignoring ground realities. Haryana lies between Punjab and Delhi, yet it’s never blamed. He challenged critics: Why is Delhi’s AQI poor now, when no paddy straw burning occurs in Punjab?
Previous governments ignored public health reforms due to kickbacks from multinational chains, promoting private facilities and weakening public sectors. His administration is revitalizing these areas, leading to revolutionary improvements.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and others were present on the occasion.
