MOGA MURDER CASE: PUNJAB POLICE ARRESTS GANGSTER MALKIT MANU AFTER BRIEF ENCOUNTER IN MOGA

CHANDIGARH/MOGA, March 12:
In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in collaboration with Moga Police, arrested a key operative of the foreign-based gangsters Gaurav alias Lucky Patyal and Davinderpal Singh alias Gopi Lahoria of the Davinder Bambiha Gang after a brief exchange of fire in Moga city. The operation aligns with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directive to make Punjab a crime-free state, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Malkit Singh alias Manu, a resident of Dosanjh Talwandi in Moga. Police teams recovered a .32 caliber pistol with four cartridges from his possession.
According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the accused Manu was an active associate of the Davinder Bambiha Gang and had a criminal history, with at least seven cases registered against him, including murder, attempted murder, NDPS Act, and Arms Act violations.

Further investigations have revealed that on February 19, 2025, acting on the instructions of jailed gangster Dharminder Baji, accused Manu, along with his accomplice Manpreet Singh alias Mani, carried out an attack on their rival in village Kapura, Moga, resulting in one fatality and a woman sustaining a gunshot injury to her leg. Additionally, Manu was involved in a firing incident at Raja Dhaba in Jagraon on February 26, 2025, orchestrated by gangster Lucky Patyal.
DGP Yadav confirmed that further investigations are underway to establish the accused’s criminal network and connections.
Operation Details
Providing insight into the operation, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban stated that based on human and technical intelligence, AGTF special teams, under the supervision of AIG Gurmeet Chauhan and DSP Bikramjit Brar, led by Inspector Pushvinder Singh, traced the accused to a rented accommodation near Dosanjh Road in Moga.
As police teams raided the location, Manu attempted to escape by opening fire, prompting a swift response from the police. During the encounter, Manu sustained bullet injuries and was immediately admitted to a local hospital, before being referred to Baba Farid Medical College in Faridkot for further treatment.
Further Investigation Underway
AIG Gurmeet Chauhan revealed that preliminary investigations suggest Manu was assigned to execute a high-profile crime in the Tricity area under orders from his foreign-based handlers, Lucky Patyal and Gopi Lahoria.
SSP Moga Ajay Gandhi confirmed that a fresh case (FIR No. 52 dated 12/3/2025) has been registered under sections 109, 132, 221, and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 25(6) & 25(7) of the Arms Act at Police Station City Moga. Further investigations are in progress.
