Chandigarh, July 30, 2024: In a crackdown on corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Varinderpal Singh alias Vickey, a Clerk at the Municipal Council (MC) in Tarn Taran, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.
According to a VB spokesperson, Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Walipur village, Tarn Taran, filed a complaint against Vickey. Singh alleged that the Clerk demanded Rs. 33,000 to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for installing an electricity meter in his hotel.

Following a preliminary investigation, the VB team set up a trap. They caught Vickey red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from Singh in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Vickey at the VB Police Station, Amritsar Range. He will be presented in court tomorrow, and further investigation is underway.
