Neeraj Chopra Launches 2025 Season with Victory at Potchefstroom Invitational

Neeraj Chopra, under the guidance of new coach Jan Zelezny, clinched the javelin throw title at the Potch Invitational Meet in Potchefstroom, South Africa, with a throw of 84.52m.

India’s javelin throw icon Neeraj Chopra made a winning start to his 2025 season, surprising fans with an appearance at the Potch Invitational Meet in South Africa, where he secured the top spot with an 84.52m effort.

At McArthur Stadium, the historic venue where he earned his Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification, Chopra outshone local competitors Douw Smit and Duncan Robertson to claim the gold.

Chopra and Smit, who threw 82.44m, were the only athletes in the six-man field to surpass the 80m mark in the men’s javelin throw at the 2025 Potch Invitational Meet.
