New Academic Session Begins at MMM College with Two-Day Student Orientation Program

Multani Mal Modi College hosted a two-day orientation program for its newly admitted students. The initiative aimed to familiarize the freshers with the college’s academic traditions, values, and culture, while also informing them about the available facilities, courses, and departments, especially following the college’s recent autonomous status.

College Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal launched the program and extended a warm welcome to the new students on campus. He emphasized that human potential is boundless, but mastering professional, technical, and critical skills is essential for success. He encouraged students to use their knowledge to transform and uplift society.

Dr. (Lt) Rohit Sehdeva, Dean Academics, highlighted the college’s newly introduced add-on certificate and diploma courses, internship opportunities, Placement Cell, and Finishing School programs designed to enhance students’ skills and potential. He described the learning environment as a mix of theoretical knowledge, industry-aligned skill training, and practical application.

Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Controller of Examinations, outlined the academic calendar, unit planning, mandatory attendance requirements, Digi-lockers, and other administrative processes. He urged students to adhere to college discipline and guidelines.

Dr. Ajit Kumar, Registrar, explained the policies of the Anti-Ragging Cell and the college’s rules and regulations.

Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Head of the Chemistry Department, spoke about the importance of the Red Ribbon Club and Buddy program, emphasizing the role of scientific courses in fostering a scientific mindset in society.

Prof. Jagdeep Kaur, Incharge of the Women’s Cell, detailed the cell’s operations and facilities for female students. She advised students to maintain decorum and avoid any illegal activities.

Dr. Deepika Singla, Dean of Publications, underscored the significance of the college’s publication wing. She shared details about publication opportunities in the college’s literary magazines and the library’s role in career development.

Dr. Sumeet Kumar, Dean of Sports and Flying Officer of the NCC (Air Wing), along with Dr. (Lt) Nidhi Rani Gupta, explained the eligibility criteria and benefits of joining the NCC Air Wing and NCC programs for students.

Dr. Ganesh Sethi from the Computer Science Department informed students about SC/BC/Minority scholarship schemes and activities of the General Study Circle.

Dr. Harmohan Sharma from the Computer Science Department highlighted the importance of various college societies, clubs, and wall magazines.

Dr. Nishan Singh, Dean of Student Welfare, showcased the Sports Department’s achievements and encouraged students to participate in at least one sport for fitness. He invited students to approach him with any concerns.

Dr. Rupinder Singh, Assistant Professor from the Punjabi Department and Incharge of the BSG, explained the enrollment process and activities of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Wing.

Prof. Vinay Garg, Head of the Computer Science Department, elaborated on the college’s information systems and the use of the Learning Management System (LMS).

The informative sessions were overseen by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Prof. Parminder Kaur, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Dr. Veerpal Kaur, Dr. Vaneet Kaur, and Dr. Veenu Jain.

The program was successfully executed with the active support and coordination of the college’s entire staff.
