Spinners Deliver for New Zealand

Electing to bat first, New Zealand posted a modest total of 128/9. Opener Georgia Plimmer top-scored with 33, while cameos from Isabella Gaze (20*) and Brooke Halliday (18) provided some late impetus. West Indies’ bowlers shared the spoils with Deandra Dottin and Karishma Ramharack taking two wickets each.

Dottin Shines, But Falls Short

West Indies’ chase began shakily, losing early wickets to set the tone for a nervous pursuit. Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor attempted to steady the ship, but both fell prey to the impressive Eden Carson who finished with figures of 3/29.

However, the dangerous Deandra Dottin kept West Indies’ hopes alive with a blistering knock of 33 runs from just 22 balls. Her dismissal in the 18th over to Melie Kerr proved to be the turning point.
