-Employees Warn of Strike if Salary Demands Remain Unmet

Patiala, 03 September

For several days, Punjab has been grappling with the wrath of devastating floods. Numerous districts, villages, and cities are submerged, leaving people homeless and struggling to survive. Household belongings, livestock, crops, and entire livelihoods have been destroyed. Thousands of families under the National Health Mission (NHM) of Punjab’s Health Department are also affected by this crisis. Despite this, NHM contractual workers continue to diligently perform their duties in flood-affected areas.

Jasbir Kaur, a senior NHM leader and district president, informed the press that even though August 2025 has passed, NHM contractual employees have not received their salaries for July and August. This delay has forced them to face a double burden during these challenging times, making it difficult to meet household expenses. The non-payment of salaries has caused widespread unrest among NHM workers across Punjab.
