OBC, EBC, and DNT Students Invited to Apply for Post-Matric Scholarship: Dr. Baljit Kaur

First-Time Portal Launch for OBC, EBC, and DNT Students

Chandigarh, January 5

Students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified and Nomadic Tribes (DNT) can now avail themselves of the Post-Matric Scholarship, announced Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that for the academic year 2024-25, the Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship Portal has been opened under the Prime Minister YASASVI Scheme, specifically for OBC, EBC, and DNT students. She noted that this is the first time a dedicated portal has been launched for these categories to ensure seamless access to scholarships.

The Minister explained that the portal aims to simplify the scholarship process, allowing eligible students to apply easily, ensuring proper institutional verification, securing approvals from authorities, and ensuring timely financial disbursement.

Key Deadlines for the Scholarship Process:

  • Student Applications for Free Ship Cards: February 15, 2025
  • Submission of Complete Cases by Institutions: February 25, 2025
  • Online Proposals by Line Departments/Authorities: March 5, 2025
  • Final Submission to the Department of Social Justice: March 10, 2025

Dr. Baljit Kaur stressed the importance of meeting these deadlines and urged eligible students to complete their applications promptly. She also instructed nodal officers and implementing departments to proactively assist institutions in guiding students through the application process.

The Minister directed district officials from the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities to ensure smooth implementation of the scholarship scheme, with regular follow-ups to ensure timely and effective execution.
