Odisha Warriors emerged victorious in the thrilling finale of the Women’s Hockey India League 2024-25, defeating Soorma Hockey Club 2-1 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi.
Rutuja Dadaso Pisal Stars with a Brace
The match saw Odisha Warriors dominate the scoring with Rutuja Dadaso Pisal netting a brace. Her first goal came in the second quarter, followed by another in the final five minutes to secure the win. Soorma Hockey Club’s lone goal came from a penalty corner converted by Penny Squibb in the second quarter.
A Closely Contested Match
Both teams displayed strong attacking intent throughout the game. The midfield battle intensified in the second quarter, with Odisha capitalizing on a deflection to take the lead. Soorma responded quickly with a penalty corner goal, keeping the score tied at halftime.
The third and fourth quarters witnessed a tense battle with both teams creating opportunities but failing to convert. Finally, Rutuja’s opportunistic goal in the closing minutes sealed the victory for Odisha Warriors.
