Patiala, April 6
In yet another step toward providing world-class facilities in government hospitals under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is set to launch the country’s first ‘Patient Facilitation Centre’ at Government Rajindra Hospital. This was announced by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh while reviewing the ongoing construction of the centre at the hospital.

Dr. Balbir Singh stated that with the launch of the ‘Patient Facilitation Centre’ at Government Rajindra Hospital in May, Punjab will become the first state in India to introduce such a facility for patients. He highlighted that the centre will offer a range of services, including benefits from the Rs. 10 lakh insurance scheme launched by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann for Punjab’s 30 million people and 6.5 million families, along with comprehensive support for patients and their accompanying family members.

He explained that the ‘Patient Facilitation Centre,’ being constructed by Kings XI Punjab, will serve as the first point of contact for patients arriving at Government Rajindra Hospital for treatment. Located in front of the emergency ward, the centre will have staff to guide patients and escort them to the relevant departments. This, he said, will reduce overcrowding during emergencies, allowing family members to wait comfortably in an air-conditioned space. The centre will also provide amenities such as drinking water, a canteen, medicines, and clean restrooms for patients and their attendants.

He emphasized that the centre, which will operate 24/7, will ensure quality healthcare services and bring significant convenience to the common man. He added that social welfare organizations, including the Patient Welfare Committee, Jan Hit Samiti, and Patiala Health Foundation, will play a key role in supporting patient services at the centre.
