As part of its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Puneet Kumar Yadav, a Patwari posted at the Revenue Estate of Rurka, Tehsil Dehlon, Ludhiana district, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹15,000.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state Vigilance Bureau said that the accused was arrested following a complaint filed by a resident of Tehsil Dehlon, Ludhiana district.

The spokesperson said that the accused Patwari had demanded ₹1 lakh from the complainant for carrying out the division of his land. The Patwari had already received ₹35,000 from the complainant in connection with the work.
Unwilling to pay the illegal gratification, the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Ludhiana. Acting on the complaint, the VB EOW team laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting ₹15,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at the VB EOW Police Station, Ludhiana. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
