Chandigarh, January 4

The Punjab Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has been awarded ₹11.39 crore by the Government of India for its outstanding efforts in promoting rooftop solar energy. This recognition follows PSPCL’s successful installation of 60.51 MW of rooftop solar capacity during the 2022-23 financial year.

Significant Growth in Rooftop Solar:

Harbhajan Singh ETO, the Power Minister of Punjab, highlighted the impressive progress made in rooftop solar installations. An additional 86 MW was installed in FY 2023-24, bringing the state’s total rooftop solar capacity to a commendable 430 MW. This rapid growth showcases Punjab’s commitment to embracing clean and renewable energy sources.

Encouraging Domestic Rooftop Solar Adoption:

The Power Minister encouraged domestic consumers to take advantage of government subsidies offered for rooftop solar installations. Individuals can save up to ₹78,000 on a 3 KW system, with subsidies of ₹30,000 per KW for the first 2 KW and ₹18,000 per KW from 2 KW to 3 KW.

Dedicated Support for Rooftop Solar:

To further encourage rooftop solar adoption and streamline the process, PSPCL has launched a dedicated Nodal Office. This one-stop shop provides assistance to individuals and organizations interested in installing rooftop solar systems. The Nodal Office can be reached by phone at 9646129246 or by email at [email address removed].

Public Awareness Campaigns:

PSPCL has launched various advertising campaigns in leading newspapers and on their official website to promote rooftop solar energy and raise public awareness. These initiatives aim to educate and motivate the public to consider solar energy solutions for their energy needs.

Commitment to a Sustainable Future:

The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is firmly committed to increasing the share of clean and affordable renewable energy in the state’s power mix. By promoting rooftop solar energy, PSPCL empowers consumers and contributes meaningfully to combating climate change. Punjab remains dedicated to expanding its renewable energy capacity and securing a sustainable future for all.
