Chandigarh, June 20, 2025:
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is taking significant steps to ensure the welfare of senior citizens, women, and children across the state. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced that a budget of ₹6175 crore has been allocated for social security schemes in the current financial year. Of this, ₹1539 crore has already been distributed as regular pensions to 34.40 lakh beneficiaries up to May 2025.
Directive to Expedite ‘Saade Buzurg Saada Maan’ Survey
During a high-level meeting with senior and field officials at Kisan Bhawan today, Dr. Baljit Kaur reviewed the progress of various social security schemes. She issued strict instructions to ensure that the benefits of government welfare programs reach all eligible beneficiaries promptly and without delays.
The Minister emphasized the need to accelerate the ‘Saade Buzurg Saada Maan’ survey and ensure that every eligible elderly citizen receives their pension. She also directed officials to recover any funds remaining in the bank accounts of deceased beneficiaries during the survey, enabling these resources to support other deserving applicants.
43,644 New Pension Applications Approved for 2025–26
Dr. Baljit Kaur revealed that 43,644 new pension applications have been approved for the financial year 2025–26. She instructed officials to process these applications with complete transparency, accountability, and within the designated timeline, stating that delays will not be tolerated.

Focus on Grassroots Monitoring and Public Awareness
The Minister urged district and departmental officers to closely monitor the implementation of social welfare schemes at the grassroots level and launch active awareness campaigns to maximize outreach. She stressed maintaining transparency and efficiency in the execution of these programs.
The meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Rajiv P. Shrivastava, IAS; Director Dr. Sheena Aggarwal, IAS; and other senior officers from the head office and district offices.
