The Punjab State Election Commission (SEC) has released a list of election symbols that will be allotted to candidates contesting general/bye-elections for Zila Parishads (District Councils), Block Samitis (Development Blocks), and Gram Panchayats (Village Councils).

Key Points:
- Notification No. SEC/PE/S.A./ 2024/01 dated September 5, 2024, details the designated election symbols.
- A separate handbook containing all the symbols is available on the SEC website (sec.punjab.gov.in) and distributed to Deputy Commissioners (District Election Officers) across the state.
- Important Note:
- As per Government of Punjab Notification No. G.S.R.44/P.A.19/1994/ S.139/Amd.(8)/2024 dated August 30, 2024, candidates for Sarpanch (Village Head) and Panch (Village Council Member) positions will not be allotted political party symbols.
- These candidates will only be eligible for “free symbols” listed in Table V and VI of the notification, assigned by the concerned Returning Officer.
