In a meeting with Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister JP Nadda, Punjab’s Special Chief Secretary for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, KAP Sinha, secured assurances of adequate fertiliser supply for the upcoming Rabi season.

- This development follows a recent conversation between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Nadda, where Mann expressed concerns about insufficient DAP fertiliser supply in August.
- Sinha emphasized Punjab’s fertiliser needs for the 2024-25 Rabi season, particularly for wheat cultivation. The state is expected to sow wheat on approximately 35 lakh hectares, requiring around 5.50 lakh metric tonnes of DAP.
- The Union Minister assured that Punjab will receive adequate quantities of DAP and other phosphatic fertilisers over the next two months. This allocation, combined with the assured supply, is expected to meet the farmers’ demands.
- Sinha also met with Rajat Kumar Mishra, Secretary of the Chemicals & Fertilisers Ministry, to further discuss fertiliser availability in Punjab.
