The Punjab Language Department has taken a significant step to honor renowned Punjabi literary figures by installing their photographs at Punjab Bhawan in New Delhi.
The first phase of this initiative saw the unveiling of 10 photos, strategically placed across different floors of the building. These include:
- Ground Floor: Bhai Vir Singh and Amrita Pritam
- First Floor: Shiv Kumar Batalvi, Pash, and Surjit Patar
- Second Floor: Ishwar Chander Nanda and Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa
- Third Floor: Bawa Balwant, Lal Singh Dil, and Firoz Din Sharaf

The Department aims to further enrich the cultural ambiance of Punjab Bhawan by installing approximately 100 photographs of prominent Punjabi poets, writers, thinkers, and language experts.
In addition to the photo exhibition, the Language Department has also established a book exhibition and sales area within Punjab Bhawan. This initiative has received positive feedback from visitors, with an increase in book sales observed.
The Resident Commissioner of Punjab Bhawan, Shruti Singh, expressed her commitment to showcasing Punjab’s cultural heritage through various art forms and installations. She also highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting Punjabi literature and language.
By honoring these literary giants, Punjab Bhawan aims to inspire future generations and strengthen the cultural identity of Punjab.
