Punjab Cabinet Sub-Committee Prioritizes Employee Safety

The Punjab Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, met with various employee unions to address their concerns. The committee directed the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to ensure the safety of employees by providing necessary safety kits before hazardous work is undertaken.

Key Points from the Meetings:

  • PSPCL Employee Unions: The sub-committee discussed demands presented by the PowerCom & Transco Contract Employees Union. They assured that legitimate demands would be considered sympathetically.
  • Mid-Day Meal Workers: The sub-committee was informed of an insurance plan being processed for mid-day meal workers. The plan offers coverage for accidental death, natural death, and spouse’s accidental death.
  • Beruzgar Sanjha Morcha and Purani Pension Prapti Front: The sub-committee reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to addressing the legitimate demands of these unions.

Government’s Focus: The Cabinet Sub-Committee emphasized the Punjab government’s dedication to the well-being of its employees and the state’s youth. They acknowledged the challenges posed by fiscal constraints but reiterated their commitment to providing employment opportunities and ensuring employee welfare.
