Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann urged the Union government to provide incentives to Punjab’s industries at par with neighboring hilly states during a meeting with a high-level NITI Aayog team.
Addressing MSME Growth: Mann emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and MSMEs to drive exponential growth in the state. He invited industry leaders to leverage Punjab’s government initiatives to become globally competitive.

Punjab’s Strengths: Mann highlighted Punjab’s historical role as a leader in various fields, including national freedom struggles, food production, and border defense. He emphasized the state’s entrepreneurial spirit and its potential to excel in industry and trade.
Economic Contributions: Mann noted that Punjab, despite accounting for 1.5% of India’s land area, contributes 2.5% to the national economy and 1.6% to exports. The state is a major producer of wheat, rice, machinery, hand tools, and other goods.
