Punjab Government Allocates Rs. 426 Crore for Police Infrastructure Upgradation

Chandigarh/Ferozepur/Bathinda/Patiala, January 23

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav announced today that the Punjab Government has approved a grant of Rs. 426 crore for the upgradation and modernization of police infrastructure across the state over the next three years.

This significant investment will be utilized to enhance police stations, police lines, and other critical infrastructure, thereby improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.

During a series of meetings with senior police officers in Ferozepur, Bathinda, and Patiala, the DGP reviewed the law and order situation and security arrangements ahead of Republic Day. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong security presence across the state, with a focus on heightened surveillance, increased patrols, and intensified night domination operations.  

Key Initiatives:

  • Inauguration of Projects: The DGP inaugurated a renovated conference hall in Bathinda and flagged off 20 new PCR motorcycles in Patiala, funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
  • Recognition for Coaches: Six coaches from Sangrur district were promoted in recognition of their contributions to the Youth Connect Program, which aims to promote sports among youth and provide employment opportunities to talented athletes.
  • Felicitation of Police Officials: 46 Punjab Police officials from the Patiala Range were felicitated with DGP commendation discs for their exemplary service.

Security Enhancements:

  • All CPs/SSPs have been directed to increase the number of police checkpoints, intensify surveillance, and conduct thorough vehicle checks.  
  • Security measures have been heightened at public venues and critical areas across the state.  

These initiatives reflect the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening law and order and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
