Punjab Government Boosts Welfare Support for Families of Fallen Soldiers

Chandigarh, February 8

The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the families of martyred soldiers by significantly increasing the ex-gratia payment. The amount has been doubled from ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore.

Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat emphasized the government’s dedication to the welfare of military personnel, families of martyrs, and ex-servicemen. He stated that the increased ex-gratia payment demonstrates the state’s respect and gratitude for the supreme sacrifices made by soldiers.

This enhanced financial assistance has already benefited 24 families of martyred soldiers.

Beyond the ex-gratia increase, the government has also doubled payments for disabled soldiers, with amounts now ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹40 lakh depending on the severity of the disability.

These measures aim to provide financial security and support to the families of those who have given their lives for the nation.
