Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann , the Punjab Government is taking significant steps to generate new employment opportunities for the state’s youth. In a major move towards this goal, the Punjab Transport Department has issued 154 stage carriage permits for the operation of mini-buses on rural link roads and other district roads during the year 2025 .
These permits have been granted under Clause 3(e) of the Punjab Government-approved Transport Scheme and Section 5 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 . Highlighting the importance of this initiative, the Transport Minister emphasized that these permits will empower unemployed youth to establish their own transport businesses. This step is expected to boost self-employment, foster entrepreneurship, and accelerate economic growth in Punjab. Additionally, it aims to enhance connectivity between rural and urban areas, ensuring better mobility for residents.

The Transport Minister stated that the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening the public transport system while providing improved commuting facilities to the people. By issuing these permits, the government is not only expanding transportation services but also enabling the youth to become self-reliant and contribute to the state’s economy.
He further added, “The government remains steadfast in its mission to develop the transport sector comprehensively. We will continue to implement innovative initiatives that create employment opportunities and support the socio-economic progress of Punjab.”
