Chandigarh, May 9:
In response to the escalating situation along the India-Pakistan border, the Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s commitment to ensuring public welfare, has established a State Control Room with a nodal officer from each department. Additionally, senior IAS officers have been deployed in every district to oversee and coordinate essential services.
Chief Secretary KAP Sinha announced these measures following a meeting with all Administrative Secretaries, the DGP, Deputy Commissioners, Police Commissioners, and SSPs. The senior IAS officers assigned to districts are tasked with monitoring health services, food and civil supplies, electricity, water supply, roads, transport, and education, while ensuring seamless coordination between civil and military authorities. They will also address other issues and maintain close communication with district administrations.
Sinha further stated that 15 IAS/PCS officers have been appointed to manage the State Control Room, operating on a rotational basis alongside departmental nodal officers. The Home Department has been designated as the nodal department for the state, responsible for liaising with relevant Union Government agencies during emergencies. The Chief Secretary reviewed the preparedness of all departments during the meeting.

To prevent shortages, the Food and Civil Supplies Department has been directed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and take legal action against hoarding. Following an assessment of district requirements, the Finance Commissioner Revenue was instructed to release advance funds immediately. Sinha also ordered all officers to cancel leaves and remain stationed at their posts.
