Punjab Government Makes Significant Progress in Paddy Procurement

Chandigarh, November 6

The Punjab government has made significant strides in the ongoing paddy procurement season. As of now, Rs. 22,047 crore has been credited to farmers’ accounts, and 105 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy has been procured out of the total 111 LMT arrived in mandis.

  • Record Single-Day Lifting: A record 6.18 LMT of paddy was lifted in a single day.
  • Successful Procurement Season: This is the sixth consecutive successful procurement season under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
  • Farmer Welfare: The government has prioritized the interests of farmers, millers, arhtiyas, and laborers.
  • Financial Support to Farmers: The government has provided financial assistance to farmers, including covering the value cut imposed by the Union Government.
  • Efficient Procurement Process: The Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department has been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth procurement process.
  • Storage Capacity: The government is actively working to address the issue of storage capacity and has taken up the matter with the Union Government.
