Punjab Government Pushes for Increased Youth Enrollment in Armed Forces

Chandigarh: The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively promoting recruitment of Punjabi youth into the Indian Armed Forces. Recognizing the state’s historical contribution to the military, the administration is taking steps to counter a decline in recent recruitment figures.
One key initiative is facilitating admission to the prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun. Defense Services Welfare Minister S. Chetan Singh Jouramajra announced the upcoming entrance exam for the July 2025 term, to be held on December 1st, 2024, in Chandigarh.
Opportunity for Young Punjabis
The RIMC program offers a unique pathway for both boys and girls interested in a military career. The Punjab government further incentivizes participation by providing scholarships of Rs. 48,000 per cadet per year.

Eligible candidates should be born between July 2nd, 2012, and January 1st, 2014, and currently enrolled in or have completed Class VII. Selection will be based on a written exam (English, Mathematics & General Knowledge) followed by a viva voce interview for those who qualify.

Prospective applicants can access the application form and past question papers online for a fee of Rs. 600 (General) or Rs. 555 (SC/ST) on the RIMC website (www.rimc.gov.in).
