As part of its transformative Sikhya Kranti initiative to strengthen the education system and foster sports talent at the grassroots level, the Punjab Government has announced the recruitment of 2,000 Physical Training Instructor (PTI) teachers for primary schools across the state. The announcement was made by Punjab’s School Education Minister Harjot Bains.
Bains stated that the requisition for these posts has been sent to the Recruitment Board of the School Education Department, ensuring a merit-based and transparent selection process.
Highlighting the efforts of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government, Bains noted that over 13,000 teaching vacancies have been filled in the past three years, including 4,006 Master Cadre teachers and 7,351 ETT teachers. The government has also prioritized promotions, with 2,600 Master Cadre teachers elevated to Lecturers, 425 ETT teachers promoted to Master Cadre, 350 PTIs upgraded to DPEs, 57 Principals appointed as DEOs, 75 non-teaching staff promoted to Master Cadre, and 450 Master Cadre teachers advanced to Headmasters.

The recruitment of PTI teachers will complement the government’s ongoing efforts to establish playgrounds in all schools, ensuring students have access to adequate sports infrastructure. These instructors will play a crucial role in training students, promoting physical fitness, and encouraging discipline, teamwork, and holistic well-being, Bains added.
He further emphasized that the Mann-led government is committed to building a robust and accessible education system that empowers students to achieve their full potential and drives academic excellence, transforming Punjab’s educational landscape.
School Education Secretary Ms. Anindita Mitra announced that details regarding the application process and eligibility criteria will be available on the official website, educationrecruitmentboard.com, within seven days.
Eligibility for PTI Teachers
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 10 with Punjabi and Class 12, along with a two-year Diploma or Certificate in Physical Education (D.P.Ed/C.P.Ed) or an equivalent course.
- Selection Process: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications, performance in a written exam, and a physical fitness test.
