
Chandigarh, May 7:
On Wednesday, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria administered the oath of office to Major General (Retired) Vinayak Saini, the newly appointed Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The swearing-in ceremony, conducted by Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, was held at the Punjab Raj Bhawan, marking a significant milestone for the PPSC.
Chief Minister Mann congratulated Major General Saini and assured the PPSC of the state government’s full support to ensure transparent and merit-based selections for various government posts. Saini’s leadership is expected to uphold the highest standards of fairness.

A native of Hoshiarpur and currently residing in Mohali, Major General Saini was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers in December 1987 and retired from the Indian Army in October 2024, bringing extensive experience to his new role.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Principal Secretary to the Governor VP Singh, Principal Secretary to the CM Ravi Bhagat, and other notable figures, all of whom joined in celebrating this momentous occasion.
