Chandigarh, September 24
The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has reached another major milestone by providing 45,560 government jobs in just 30 months, significantly uplifting the lives of the state’s youth.
During a ceremony at Tagore Theatre, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh handed over appointment letters to 586 new recruits in the Health and Family Welfare Department on behalf of CM Bhagwant Mann. Dr. Singh hailed this event as a historic moment that marks a transformative shift in the lives of Punjab’s youth, reflecting the government’s commitment to their welfare and to creating new employment opportunities.
The new recruits include 558 Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) or Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), 14 Ophthalmic Officers, six Medical Laboratory Technicians Grade-2, three Stenographers, and five Ward Attendants hired on compassionate grounds.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to further bolster the health department, noting that 1,390 doctor positions are being filled in a phased manner. An advertisement for 400 doctor posts has already been released in the first phase, with an additional 435 house surgeons set to be appointed soon.

Under CM Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, the health department has welcomed a total of 1,910 new recruits, including the 586 candidates who joined today.
Dr. Singh also shared that, of the 986 new regular Multipurpose Health Worker (Female) positions, 586 joined today, while the remaining 428 will receive their appointment letters soon.

Highlighting the merit-based nature of these selections, Dr. Singh expressed pride in the youth’s dedication and intelligence. He credited CM Bhagwant Mann’s efforts for initiating reverse migration in the state, with more youth choosing to work locally rather than seeking opportunities abroad.
In addition to job creation, Dr. Singh noted the expansion of Aam Aadmi Clinics across Punjab. With 30 new clinics opened, the total now stands at 872 within just 30 months, providing treatment to over 2 crore people.
