Punjab Health Minister Demands Justice, Compensation for Kolkata Doctor’s Family, Calls for Stricter Laws

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, today expressed solidarity with the medical fraternity protesting the horrific rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. He demanded a swift investigation, exemplary punishment for the culprits, and a substantial ex-gratia of Rs. 10 crore for the victim’s parents from the central and West Bengal governments.

Dr. Singh emphasized the urgent need for a stringent central law to protect medical professionals from violence.
