The Punjab Government has intensified its efforts to combat power theft, taking stringent measures against those involved in the illegal practice. In August alone, 296 FIRs were registered at Anti Power Theft Police Stations across the state, and 38 employees were terminated for engaging in corrupt practices.
Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO announced these figures in a press release, highlighting the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. He stated that regular checks and raids have been conducted statewide, leading to the registration of FIRs in all zones.

The Power Minister emphasized that the government will not tolerate any form of corruption or power theft. He issued a stern warning to those involved in these activities, urging them to cease their illegal practices and regularize their power connections.
The Punjab Power Department is committed to eradicating power theft, which is a significant drain on the state’s resources. The department has issued explicit instructions to its officials to conduct extensive special inspections across the state to prevent power theft and recover revenue losses.
