Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar has unveiled a comprehensive strategy to reduce road accident fatalities in the state. The initiative includes a range of measures aimed at enhancing road safety and holding departments accountable.

- Monthly Reviews: Regular monthly reviews will be conducted to assess departmental performance and ensure timely implementation of safety measures.
- CCTV Surveillance: The state government plans to introduce CCTV surveillance in high-risk areas to monitor traffic violations and deter reckless driving.
- Online Challan System: An online challan system will be implemented to streamline the process of issuing fines for traffic violations.
- Strengthening Emergency Services: The Health Department has been directed to improve the availability of medical facilities and staff at trauma centers.
- Sadak Surakhiya Force: The force, equipped with 144 Highway Patrol Vehicles, will play a crucial role in enforcing traffic rules and responding to accidents.
- Third-Party Audits: Independent third-party audits will be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of black spot rectification measures.
- Training and Capacity Building: Road-owning departments will undergo training in road safety audits to improve their understanding of road safety principles.
By implementing these measures, the Punjab government aims to create a safer road environment and reduce the number of road accident fatalities in the state.
