The Punjab Police has joined forces with Save Life India to implement a data-driven approach to road safety, aiming to make Punjab’s roads safer and more secure for travelers.
An MoU was signed between ADGP Traffic and Road Safety AS Rai and Save Life Foundation founder Piyush Tewari at Punjab Police Headquarters.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the collaboration will focus on scientific crash investigations, identifying black spots (accident-prone areas), and implementing targeted interventions to prevent accidents. Traffic personnel will receive specialized training in advanced crash analysis techniques, enhancing their ability to enforce regulations and implement effective road safety measures.

He added, “By leveraging evidence-based solutions, we are fully committed to significantly reducing the number of accidents and ultimately saving lives throughout the region. This proactive approach not only aims to improve road safety but also fosters a culture of accountability and awareness among all road users.”

ADGP Traffic AS Rai emphasized the Punjab Police’s commitment to professional policing to ensure public safety and security on the roads. He noted that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is the only state in India to reverse the trend of increasing accidental deaths. In areas covered by the Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF), road accident deaths decreased by 48%, and across the state, there was a 5% decrease, while the national death rate increased significantly.
Save LIFE Foundation works to improve road safety and trauma care in India and beyond, focusing on reducing deaths and injuries, particularly among vulnerable communities.
