
CHANDIGARH/LUDHIANA, March 16:
In a major breakthrough in the fight against organized crime, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with Ludhiana Rural Police, has arrested the prime suspect in the firing incident at Ladoo Lekhe Wale Jewellery Showroom in Jagraon. The arrest took place near Village Sadarpur in Ludhiana following a brief exchange of gunfire, during which the accused sustained a bullet injury to his right leg. The suspect, identified as Krishan from Basti Mansian Wali in Zira, Ferozepur, is a known operative of foreign-based gangster Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dala. Police recovered a .32 calibre pistol and two cartridges from his possession.

Details of the Jagraon Firing Incident
The incident dates back to March 5, 2025, when two bike-borne assailants opened fire at the Ladoo Lekhe Wale Jewellery Showroom in Jagraon. The attack was intended to intimidate the shop owner, who had received an extortion call from gangster Arsh Dala. Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR No. 48, dated 05-03-2025) was registered under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station City Jagraon, Ludhiana Rural.
DGP Punjab: Accused Acted on Arsh Dala’s Orders
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav confirmed that Krishan carried out the attack on direct instructions from his foreign-based handler, Arsh Dala.
“The arrested accused, Krishan, targeted the jewellery shop to intimidate the owner for extortion on the directions of gangster Arsh Dala,” said DGP Yadav.
He added that further investigations are underway to uncover additional connections and linkages in the case.
Operation Details: Exchange of Fire and Arrest
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban provided insights into the operation:
- Acting on intelligence inputs, police teams tracked Krishan to Village Sadarpur, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sidhwan Bet, Ludhiana Rural.
- During the interception, Krishan opened fire on the police in an attempt to flee, prompting retaliatory action in self-defense.
- In the exchange, Krishan sustained a bullet injury to his right leg and was immediately shifted to the local Civil Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
“The accused Krishan sustained a bullet injury on his right leg and was admitted to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment,” said ADGP Promod Ban.
The operation was supervised by AIG Sandeep Goel and DSP Rajan Parminder Singh of the AGTF, alongside Ludhiana Rural Police. A fresh FIR (No. 53, dated 16-03-2025) has been registered under Section 109 of the BNS and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Sidhwan Bet, Ludhiana Rural.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ludhiana Rural Dr. Ankur Gupta emphasized that investigations are ongoing to further dismantle the criminal network linked to this case.
This operation marks a significant step in curbing gangster activities in Punjab, with the recovered .32 calibre pistol serving as critical evidence in the ongoing probe.
