Punjab Police Arrest Six in Ferozepur Triple Mu*der Case

Chandigarh/Ferozepur, September 7

In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with central agencies and Maharashtra Police, has arrested six individuals from Aurangabad in connection with the triple mu*der case that occurred in Ferozepur. The arrests were made as part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle organized criminal networks in the state, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Baba, Prince, Ravinder Singh alias Ravi alias Sukhu, Sukhchain Singh, Akshay alias Bagicha, and Rajbeer Singh alias Daler Singh. All have criminal histories with previous cases involving murder, attempted murder, robbery, drug trafficking, and illegal possession of weapons. Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Baba is also a declared proclaimed offender in two cases.

The incident occurred on September 3 when three individuals, including a young girl, were gunned down by assailants on motorcycles near a gurudwara in Ferozepur. A case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

Following extensive investigations, the AGTF, led by ADGP Promod Ban, conducted a joint operation across Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Maharashtra, resulting in the arrest of the six suspects from the Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thakre Express Highway. The operation was spearheaded by DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar and DSP Rajan Parminder Singh, with support from the QRT Aurangabad Police team.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals are closely associated with Ashish Chopra, a fugitive believed to be hiding abroad. The incident is believed to be a result of a rivalry between two criminal groups.

The Punjab Police DGP, Gaurav Yadav, has stated that further investigations are underway to uncover the complete network involved in the crime. More arrests are expected in the coming days.
