In a significant operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a trans-border narco-arms smuggling cartel with the arrest of two individuals. The police seized 3.5 kg of heroin, 1.5 kg of methaqualone, and two pistols, including a sophisticated 9mm Glock, from their possession, according to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vansh alias Billa (23), a resident of Billai Wala Chowk, Amritsar, and Sonu Chaurasia (20), from Dashmesh Nagar, Amritsar

Details of the Operation
Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar shared that based on reliable intelligence, Vansh alias Billa was apprehended from the Mohkampura area. During the raid, police recovered 3.5 kg of heroin, 1.5 kg of methaqualone, and a 9mm Glock pistol.
In a separate operation, police arrested Sonu Chaurasia from the Suncity turn on Batala Road. He was found in possession of a .32 bore pistol.
Ongoing Investigation
The DGP stated that investigations are underway to uncover the broader network, including backward and forward linkages. CP Bhullar added that further arrests and recoveries are anticipated in the coming days.
Legal Action
Two separate FIRs have been registered in connection with the case:
- FIR No. 98 dated 14-11-2024 under Sections 21-C and 29 of the NDPS Act, and Section 25(8) of the Arms Act
- FIR No. 97 dated 14-11-2024 under Section 25 of the Arms Act
Both FIRs were filed at Police Station Mohkampura.
