Punjab Police Busts Narco-Terror Module, Solves Islamabad Police Station Grenade Attack

CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, December 28
Punjab Police have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending two members of a narco-terror module responsible for a recent grenade attack on the Islamabad Police Station in Amritsar. The arrests were made by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar.
The arrested individuals, Gurjeet Singh (resident of Dande, Gharinda, Amritsar) and Baljit Singh (resident of Chhapa, Tarn Taran), confessed to carrying out the attack on December 17, 2024, at approximately 3 am. The operation also led to the recovery of 1.4 kg of heroin, one hand grenade, and two sophisticated 9mm pistols (one Zigana and one Glock), along with ammunition.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrested individuals were operating under the direction of handlers based abroad. The investigation revealed that a US-based drug smuggler, Sandeep Singh alias Seepu, was running a smuggling network, facilitating the movement of drugs and weapons from Pakistan into India through his associates. Acting on this intelligence, SSOC Amritsar arrested Gurjeet Singh and recovered the heroin. Subsequent investigations linked Gurjeet and his accomplice, Baljit Singh, to the grenade attack, which they carried out on instructions from a foreign-based individual introduced to them by Seepu.

Efforts are also underway to trace previous consignments handled by the accused.
