Punjab Police Busts Pak-ISI Backed Narco-Terror Module, Two Arrested

CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, January 28

In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police have busted a Pakistan-ISI backed narco-terror module operating in the state. The module, allegedly being handled by USA-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passian and notorious drug smuggler Sarwan Bhola, was responsible for a grenade attack on the Gumtala Police Post in Amritsar.

Two Arrested, Weapons Recovered:

Two members of the module, identified as Bagga Singh and Puskaran Singh alias Sagar, have been arrested. Police have recovered one hand grenade, two sophisticated pistols, and ammunition from their possession.

Background of the Attack:

On January 9, 2025, unidentified individuals hurled a hand grenade at the Gumtala Police Post. The terrorist organization BKI subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.

Connection to Drug Smuggling:

Investigations revealed that Bagga Singh, one of the arrested individuals, is a relative of Sarwan Bhola, who is wanted in a major drug smuggling case. Sarwan Bhola, operating from the USA, is believed to have tasked Bagga Singh and Pushkaran Singh to carry out terror activities in Punjab.

Ongoing Investigation:

The Punjab Police are conducting further investigations to uncover the extent of the module’s operations and apprehend the remaining members.

DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized the Punjab Police’s commitment to making the state safe and secure, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
