Punjab Police Cracks Shiv Mandir Theft Case, Arrests 4

Chandigarh/Khanna, August 22: In a swift operation, Punjab Police has apprehended four members of an interstate gang involved in the theft of silver ornaments from the Shiv Mandir in Khanna. The arrest comes just a week after the incident, demonstrating the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the state.

The arrested individuals, Resham Singh, Ravi Kumar, Honey, and Rajeev Kumar, were planning to target temples in Tamil Nadu and Telangana. The gang entered the Shiv Mandir through a window and stole silver items worth ₹3.63 lakh.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav praised the Khanna Police team for their swift action and the collaboration with other police departments. SSP Khanna Ashwini Gotyal shared details of the operation, highlighting the use of scientific and human intelligence to track down the culprits.

The investigation revealed that the gang had a history of targeting religious places and had sold the stolen items to a jeweller, Rajeev Kumar, who was also arrested. The jeweller is already facing 12 criminal cases related to theft.

Punjab Police continues to investigate the gang’s activities and anticipate more arrests. This successful operation underscores the state’s commitment to combating crime and protecting its citizens.
