DGP Yadav revealed that the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers who used drones to drop drug consignments across the border. He confirmed that investigations are ongoing to trace the entire network of suppliers, dealers, and buyers.
CP Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar provided operational details, explaining that a police team, acting on reliable intelligence, apprehended Gurpreet Singh and Baljeet Kaur on January 1 in the Guru ki Wadali area, seizing 3 kg of heroin. Investigations revealed a family connection, with Baljeet Kaur’s husband, Balbir Singh, currently incarcerated in Karnpur Jail, Rajasthan, after being arrested in 2022 with 5 kg of heroin.
The police are working to identify the full extent of the drug network and determine the total amount of drugs trafficked by the arrested individuals.
