Punjab Police Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Mafia: Illegal Houses of Smugglers Demolished in Patiala and Rupnagar

— Punjab Police Committed to Making Punjab Drug-Free as Per CM Bhagwant Mann’s Directives
Chandigarh, February 27:
In a continued effort to combat the drug menace, Punjab Police, in collaboration with local administration, demolished illegally constructed houses of two drug peddlers in Patiala and Rupnagar districts on Thursday. This action is part of the state government’s relentless war against drugs, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
In Patiala, police teams led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Nanak Singh took stringent action against a notorious drug smuggler, Rinky, a resident of Rodi Kut Mohalla. Rinky, a habitual offender, is facing at least 10 FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, registered between 2016 and 2024.
SSP Dr. Nanak Singh stated that the illegal construction, which served as Rinky’s residence, was demolished following orders from the district administration. He reiterated that Patiala Police is committed to taking strict action against drug smugglers, and such measures will continue to be enforced against repeat offenders.

Similarly, in Rupnagar, the district police and administration demolished the illegally constructed house of a drug smuggling couple, Salim Mohammad and his wife Asha, residents of Sadabrat village. The couple, habitual drug peddlers, are each facing three criminal cases under the NDPS Act. Recoveries of ganja and narcotic powder have been made from them in the past.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and SSP Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana highlighted that the demolition was carried out as part of a campaign against drug smugglers, in line with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives. The couple had allegedly built their house using drug money, which was razed by the Municipal Council, Rupnagar, with police assistance.
SSP Gulneet Khurana emphasized that such actions send a strong message to drug smugglers and reaffirm the Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug trade from the state. The ongoing crackdown underscores the government’s resolve to create a drug-free Punjab, ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
