Punjab Police Intensifies Security Ahead of Independence Day

CHANDIGARH, August 3

Punjab Police has launched a massive security operation, ‘OPS Seal-VII’, to ensure peaceful Independence Day celebrations. The operation involves sealing 91 entry and exit points across 10 border districts to curb drug trafficking, liquor smuggling, and anti-social activities.

Over 1100 police personnel conducted thorough checks on 3668 vehicles, leading to 14 arrests, 431 detentions, and the seizure of four pistols from a Rajasthan-based weapon smuggler. The police aim to instill a sense of security among the public while deterring criminal elements.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed the police to maintain heightened security across the state.
