Punjab Police Intensifies Security Ahead of Republic Day with Statewide CASO

In a proactive move to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Republic Day 2025, Punjab Police conducted a comprehensive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) across all 169 railway stations in the state today.

Under the direct supervision of DGP Gaurav Yadav, the operation, conducted simultaneously in all 28 police districts from 1 pm to 3 pm, involved police teams, including sniffer dog squads, meticulously frisking passengers arriving at and departing from railway stations.

Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, who personally monitored the operation, emphasized that all CPs/SSPs were instructed to deploy at least two police teams per station, led by gazetted officers. Police personnel were directed to conduct checks with utmost professionalism and courtesy.

Over 2300 police personnel participated in the operation, checking 3299 individuals. While the majority of checks were routine, 173 individuals were detained for further questioning.

Simultaneously, police teams conducted thorough checks of 2593 vehicles parked near railway stations using the Vahan app. This resulted in 246 traffic challans and the impounding of 18 vehicles.

“Punjab Police is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the state, as per the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann,” stated Special DGP Shukla.
