Punjab Police has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking. In a joint operation, Counter Intelligence Amritsar intercepted two vehicles near Sukhewala village in Amritsar, leading to the seizure of 10.4 kilograms of heroin.
The accused, identified as Sukhraj Singh, the owner of the vehicle carrying the drugs, managed to escape along with his accomplice. Police teams are actively pursuing both individuals.
Operation Details:
- Intelligence: Police received information about a possible drug exchange between the occupants of two vehicles.
- Interception: Counter Intelligence Amritsar teams, led by DSP Navtej Singh, located the vehicles near an Indian Oil petrol pump.
- Escape: Upon noticing the police, the accused fled the scene in a Mahindra Scorpio car.
- Seizure: The Baleno car, containing the heroin, Rs. 1000 cash, and identification documents belonging to Sukhraj Singh, was seized.
Investigation and Pursuit:
- Preliminary Findings: Initial investigations suggest that Sukhraj Singh was planning to deliver the heroin to the occupant of the Scorpio car.
- Manhunt: Police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the absconding accused.
- Further Investigation: Efforts are underway to identify additional individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
