The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has suspended Junior Engineer (JE) Gurmeet Singh, posted at the Distribution Sub Division Bariwala, Sri Muktsar Sahib, for irregularities in his duties.
Irregularities: Gurmeet Singh erected a new 11 KV transformer in an open field, bypassing PSPCL rules. This action was intended to facilitate a domestic connection and provide free electricity units. However, the intended connection was to be released in an open space without basic amenities, violating PSPCL regulations.
Financial Loss: The illegal erection of the transformer caused a financial loss of approximately Rs. 1 lakh to PSPCL. The transformer has been ordered to be dismantled, and further disciplinary action is being initiated against the suspended employee.

Zero-Tolerance Policy: Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO emphasized that there is no place for corruption within the department. He warned employees against engaging in illegal or corrupt practices, stating that strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
