Punjab to Enhance Cybersecurity with New Security Operations Center

Chandigarh, January 16

The Punjab government has taken a significant step towards bolstering its cybersecurity infrastructure. The Board of Governors of the Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSeGS), chaired by Governance Reforms and Public Grievances Minister Aman Arora, approved the establishment of a Security Operations Center (SOC) at a cost of Rs. 42.07 crore.

This cutting-edge SOC will enhance the state’s ability to defend against cyber threats and protect critical IT infrastructure, including government applications and websites. Punjab will now be among the leading states in North India with advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

Following the meeting, Minister Arora held a video conference with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to review progress on key governance reforms and improve citizen service delivery. He emphasized the need to minimize service delivery delays, commending Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Pathankot for their low pendency rates.

Minister Arora directed DCs to identify and address instances of unnecessary delays in application processing, urging officials to provide clear and justified reasons for any objections.

To streamline the verification process, all Sarpanchs, Nambardars, and Municipal Councilors are mandated to onboard the eSewa portal by the end of January. From February 1st, only online verifications will be accepted, eliminating the need for citizens to make multiple visits.

Additional Chief Secretary (Governance Reforms) Vikas Pratap reiterated the department’s commitment to providing hassle-free and efficient services to the public.
