The Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) has announced the establishment of a Center of Excellence focused on the beauty and wellness sector, aiming to equip young people with job-ready skills. This initiative aligns with the employment generation goals of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday between PSDM and Hair Raiserz (Tress Lounge) to train and place 300 candidates annually. Amrit Singh, Mission Director of PSDM, and Munish Bajaj, Managing Director of Hair Raiserz, signed the agreement in the presence of Punjab’s Minister of Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Aman Arora.

Arora highlighted that Hair Raiserz will provide the training completely free of charge. This collaboration, facilitated by PSDM’s SANKALP Scheme, will offer skill development courses in various areas, including Assistant Hair Dresser & Stylist, Professional Makeup Artist, Assistant Nail Technician, and Nail Technician. PSDM will contribute by providing guidance, funding, and support for smooth implementation, collaborating with stakeholders, and mobilizing candidates.
Lauding this effort to empower Punjabi youth, the Employment Generation Minister emphasized the significance of the MoU in equipping them with skills to enhance their employability and contribute to the state’s economic growth. He further encouraged young people to explore entrepreneurship opportunities to create employment and build a fulfilling career. The Minister reiterated the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government to improve youth employability through skill development and facilitating suitable employment and self-employment avenues.
An additional benefit for the candidates trained under this MoU is a 4-day training and certification program by L’Oreal. Hair Raiserz, with its network of training centers, will manage the Center of Excellence. Their responsibilities include training, certifying candidates, facilitating placements, and ensuring project implementation aligns with the guidelines. Regular monitoring will be conducted by the District Program Management Unit appointed by PSDM.
