Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests Bribe-Taking Computer Operator

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has successfully apprehended Labhpreet Singh, a computer operator posted at the Sewa Kendar in Balluana, Bathinda district. Singh was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 12,000.

The VB spokesperson revealed that the arrest was made based on a complaint filed by Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Balluana. Jaspreet alleged that Singh had demanded a bribe to expedite the issuance of his uncle’s death certificate. The complainant recorded the conversation with Singh and provided it to the VB as evidence.

Acting on the complaint, a VB team laid a trap to catch Singh accepting the bribe. Although Singh initially managed to escape, he was later apprehended near Kili Nihal Singh Wala bus stop. The bribe amount was recovered from his possession.

A corruption case has been registered against Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station in Bathinda range. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
