The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has apprehended Chiman Lal, District Manager of the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation in Tarn Taran, caught in the act of accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe as part of its anti-corruption drive.
According to a VB spokesperson, the arrest followed a complaint from a resident of Gidhri Baghihari village in Tarn Taran. The complainant reported that their disabled sister, who had taken a Rs 1,00,000 loan from the corporation in 2009, was eligible for a government loan waiver scheme. However, Chiman Lal allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to process the waiver.
