The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested a Police Head Constable (MHC) named Satnam Singh for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The arrest was made in Sri Muktsar Sahib.
According to the VB, Satnam Singh, who was posted as Munshi at the CIA Staff in Sri Muktsar Sahib, had threatened a woman named Parveen Kaur that her son was using a stolen mobile phone. He demanded Rs 50,000 to settle the matter. Despite providing proof of purchase, Parveen Kaur had already paid Rs 8,000 to the MHC.

Parveen Kaur recorded the conversation and approached the VB for help. After verifying the complaint, the VB set up a trap and caught Satnam Singh red-handed while accepting the second installment of the bribe.
A case has been registered against the accused police personnel under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station in Bathinda. Further investigations are underway.
